Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retd) Md Ahsan Habib Khan will perform duties of Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal who is diagnosed with coronavirus.

An official order signed by additional secretary of Election Commission Md Shah Alam, was issued in this regard on Thursday.

The order said Ahsan Habib will perform duties of CEC as long as Kazi Habibul Awal is sick. 

EC published roadmap of the 12th parliamentary polls at the commission’s secretariat at Agargaon on Wednesday. Habibul Awal could not attend the event on account of illness.

According to Md Riaz Uddin, private secretary to the CEC, Kazi Habibul Awal was suffering from fever since Tuesday and he was diagnosed with coronavirus on Thursday.
