The government has reshuffled the civil administration including the Election Commission (EC) and public security division under the home affairs ministry a year ahead of the 12th national parliamentary elections.
As part of the move, three additional secretaries have been promoted to secretaries, according to separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, on Thursday.
Md. Jahangir Alam, additional secretary, Public Security Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, has been made secretary to the EC and Humayun Kabir has been transferred to the Ministry of Industries.
Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana has been transferred to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Meanwhile, Aminul Islam Khan Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has been transferred to the Public Security Division under the home affairs ministry.
Farid Ahmed, chief executive officer of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has been promoted to secretary and has also been posted to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
Apart from these, Anishur Rahman Mia, chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) and Local Government Division Secretary Mohammad Mezbah Uddin have been promoted to secretary and senior secretary, respectively.
And, they have been put at their previous respective jobs, according to the government notifications.
On October 18, the government sent three Superintendents of Police on early retirement for the sake of public interest.
The three police officials are Muhammad Shahidullah Chowdhury, Delowar Hossain Mia and Mirza Abdullah hel Baki.
On October 16, Md Mokbul Hossain who had been serving as information secretary, was sent on compulsory retirement ‘in the public interest’ nearly a year before he was due to retire.
