A trial run of a train on the Padma Bridge rail link project was conducted on Tuesday morning, from Faridpur.
The train started its 32km journey from the district's Bhanga Railway Station to the Padma Bridge viaduct at around 10:30 am.
It took the trial train some 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach its destination, said Chief Coordinator of Padma Bridge Rail Link Project Major General Zahid Hossain.
He said out of 32km route, some 4km are unstoned and 28km are stoned railway lines.
The rail line of the Padma Bridge project is about 169km from Dhaka to Jessore.
The cost of this project has been estimated at around Tk40,000 crore.
The government of Bangladesh has financed about Tk18,000 crore and the Chinese government provided the rest of the money.
