Twelve medical institutions in the capital have been fined Tk34,90,000 for storing and selling illegal drugs in the capital on Thursday.

During a raid, a mobile court of RAB-10 led by Executive Magistrate Md Mazharul Islam fined the medical establishments.

RAB-10 Assistant Director Enayet Kabir confirmed the action against unethical medical businesses located Kotwali thana area.

In the drive, All KC Drug was fined Tk 2 lakh, Hajiganj Medicine Tk 2 lakhs, Chowdhury Pharmacy Tk 20,000, Gopal Gita Pharmacy Tk 5 lakhs, Rafi Medicine Corner Tk 1 lakh, Janasheba Medicine Agency Tk 10 lakhs, Kaf Medicine Hall Tk 50,000, M/S Ikbal Sarjari Tk 1 lakh, Dhaka Organic Lab Tk 1, Tamanna Drug Tk 2 lakhs and Modina Pharmacy Tk 10 lakhs, respectively.

Enayet Kabir said the mobile court also sealed eight drug godowns and destroyed some unauthorised drugs worth Tk 2 lakhs.
