A Dhaka court sent Md Zakir Hossain, administrative officer of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to jail in a graft case.

Earlier, the High Court had directed Zakir to surrender before the trial court in relation to the case within six weeks.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge (Acting) Faisal bin Atik ordered sending Zakir to jail as he surrendered on Tuesday.

Shahin Islam, counsel for Zakir Hossain, said High Court ordered his client to surrender before the trial court within six weeks.

As per the order, Zakir Hossain surrendered and prayed for bail which was rejected, he added.
