The general point-to-point inflation rate eased slightly in September as it reached 9.63 percent down from 9.92 percent in August, 2023 mainly due to the slight downtrend in both food and non-food inflation.

The general point-to-point inflation rate in July, 2023 was 9.69 percent, according to the latest data of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The BBS data showed that the food inflation declined to 12.37 percent in September 2023 down from 12.54 percent in August.

On the other hand, the non-food inflation rate also declined to 7.82 percent in September down from 7.95 percent in August.

The general point to point inflation rate both at the urban and rural areas also declined last month.

The point to point inflation in the rural areas in September was 9.75 percent which was 9.98 percent in August.

On the other hand, the point to point inflation in the urban areas in September was 9.24 percent which was 9.63 percent in August.

The annual average inflation from October 2022 to September 2023 notched 9.29 percent.

The wage rate index in September witnessed an uptrend with 7.64 percent which was 7.58 percent in August.
