Country’s inflation increased to 9.93% in October from 9.63% in September, according to data released by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Monday.
Non-food inflation increased by 0.48% to 8.30% in October from 7.82% in September while food inflation rose by 0.19% to 12.56 in October from 12.37% in September.
The inflation in rural areas rose to 9.99% in October from 9.75% in September while the inflation in cities increased to 8.01% during that time from 7.42% in September.
According to data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), rural food inflation stood at 12.53% in October, 12.51% in September, 12.54% in August, and 9.76% in July this year. In contrast, urban food inflation was slightly lower, with rates of 12.58% in October, 12.01% in September, 12.11% in August, and 9.63% in July.
However, overall inflation has been rising for several years, reaching 9.02% in FY23, 6.15% in FY22, and 5.56% in FY21.
