The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the time for submitting tax returns for individuals by two months until January 31, 2024 amid present political situation.

For companies, the deadline has been extended by one month until February 28 2024. 

A notification will be published regarding the issue today, said an NBR official.

The original deadline for individual tax return submissions was November 30, 2023, while for companies, it was January 31, 2024.

Earlier, businessmen's apex organization FBCCI and Dhaka Taxes Bar Association had requested to extend the return submission period.

FBCCI calls for extension of return filing period till December 31. And the Dhaka Taxes Bar Association wrote to the NBR calling for an extension of two months.
