Engineer Md Mohiuddin Ahmed was appointed as the chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

He is presently serving the telecom regulatory authority as vice-chairman and will replace the present chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder on 14 December.

He was made the chairman for the remainder of the second term of his contract i.e. from 14 December 2023 to 29 May 2025 in continuation of the present contract and on similar terms.

The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday.

Other terms of the appointment will be determined by the approved contract.

The order was issued for public interest, added the notice.
