Election Commission (EC) Secretary Md Jahangir Alam has said that the mobile network and internet connection will be fully operational across the country on the day of the 12th national election scheduled for 7 January.

“We held talks with all mobile network system operators and they assured us to keep the mobile network across the country operational with full speed,” he said.

The EC secretary said this while addressing a press conference held at the commission’s media centre in Dhaka on Monday.

Alam said all sorts of information relating to the national election will be available through the 'Smart Election Management BD' app.

The EC on 6 January 6 will inform the nation about all sorts of its preparations for the 12th national election set to be held on 7 January, he said.

A meet the press will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center around 3 pm on 6 January to discuss the parliamentary election, he said.
