Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali has said that the country is getting rid of the economic crisis as the foreign exchange reserves are experiencing an increasing trend.
“There was a bit of an economic crisis in the country but it has not gone bankrupt. We are now returning to the development track as there is an increasing trend in the foreign reserves,” he said on Monday.
The finance minister made the remarks while talking to reporters at his ministry office in Dhaka after emerging from a meeting with Arnoud Hameleers, country director of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Bangladesh.
Claiming that Bangladesh is doing well economically, the finance minister said the government is working hard to strengthen the country’s financial backbone.
“We are no longer solely reliant on one or two donor agencies now. Resolving a crisis cannot be achieved overnight. It requires time,” he added.
