Travellers have to pay additional fares of Tk983.94 crore while leaving Dhaka during Eid journeys despite various efforts of the government’s agencies to stop charging extra fares by transport operators.

Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (BJKS), a passengers’ welfare platform, disclosed the information in a press statement on Sunday after monitoring the overall situation of charging additional fares and passenger services.

According to the platform, transport operators are charging extra fares due to the hike in commodity prices, increase in extortion, and making extra profit among other reasons.
