The National Bank's (NBL) new board, led by Chairman Alhaj Khalilur Rahman, announced plans to inject Tk1,000 crore to address the ongoing crisis at the bank.
During a press briefing at the NBL's headquarters on Monday, Khalilur Rahman stated that the bank (NBL) aims to secure Tk3,000 crore from deposits and various projects, with an additional Tk1,000 crore to be sourced from shareholders for capital infusion.
In response to journalists' queries during the briefing, the new chairman of the NBL said that the bank is not under the control of any particular group or individual.
When asked which companies they represented on the NBL board, the new directors declined to respond to the journalists. Instead of providing an answer, they concluded the press briefing.
Emphasising that the bank has no plans for merging with any other bank, the NBL chairman said, 'Our priority is to recover funds from defaulters, as mounting default loans have been causing us significant challenges.'
