Finance Minister AMA Muhith has proposed that the income tax threshold of Tk 2,50,000 will remain unchanged for general taxpayers for the next year.

Rejecting expectation for increasing the threshold to Tk 3,00,000 to offer relief to the individual taxpayers, Muhith has made an exception, though. The threshold for a parent or guardian of a person with disability will be higher by Tk 50,000.

For female taxpayers and senior citizens aged over 65 years, the threshold is Tk 300,000.

The ceiling for people with disability is Tk 400,000 and for freedom fighters Tk 425,000.
