Finance Minister AMA Muhith in his Budget Speech said GDP growth rate will be 7.8 per cent in FY 2018-19 and inflation will come down to 5.6 per cent by the end of the fiscal year.

Muhith on Thursday becomes the first finance minister in Bangladesh history to present 10 consecutive national budgets.

Earlier on the day, the Cabinet approved the national budget of around Tk 468,000 crore for the fiscal year 2018-19.

The revenue collection target for the coming fiscal year is likely to be fixed at Tk 340,775 crore. The annual development programme (ADP) for the coming fiscal is likely to be Tk 178,000 crore.
