The United States has reaffirmed its commitment to an inclusive and just society that upholds the voices and rights of Bangladesh’s most vulnerable populations.
“We stand in support of the indigenous communities and all Bangladeshis, recognising their rich cultural heritage and invaluable contributions to the nation’s identity,” Helen LaFave, Charge d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Dhaka, said on Monday.
She made the remarks after the meeting with the CHT Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma at the latter's office at the Secretariat.
During a recent meeting with CHT Adviser Supradip Chakma, LaFave emphasised the need to respect and uphold the rights of these communities to free them from discrimination, marginalisation and violence.
