The government has warned the agitating top officials of disciplinary action if they violate the government rules in pressing home their demands for upgradation and others.
Referring to the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules 1979, the Ministry of Public Administration in a notice said that if anyone violates this rule, the official will be held responsible for misconduct and must be prosecuted.
Some top government officials have recently held demonstrations, sit-in programmes, rallies, human chains and gone on work abstention to meet their demand, undermining the dignity of the government, it said.
It is now being noticed that statements with adverse comments are being circulated on social media against government decisions, orders and reform initiatives before implementation which is a sheer violation of the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules 1979.
Provision 30 of the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1979, states that no government servant shall publicly object to or obstruct the implementation of any decision or order issued by the government or authority, nor shall they incite or provoke others to do so in any manner.
In the notice floated for the media this afternoon, the ministry said two parties within the public administration have already taken to the street to realise their demand for posts, promotion and other issues.
On one side is the administration cadre, and on the other is the Inter-Cadre Anti-Discrimination Council, comprising 25 cadres, it said.
