The newly appointed Ambassador of the Philippines to Bangladesh, Nina P Cainglet, emphasised the strengthening and expanding ties between the two nations, which are expected to significantly enhance trade relations.
She expressed optimism that this growing partnership would pave the way for increased economic collaboration and opportunities for both countries.
The ambassador made the remarks at a programme in Dhaka on Tuesday night, according to a press release on Wednesday.
The Bangladesh Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BPCCI) hosted a reception to welcome the new ambassador.
According to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade, the Philippines imported goods worth US$94.81 million from Bangladesh in 2023. This data, which reflects trade statistics, was last updated in January 2025.
BPCCI president, directors, and RMG manufacturers joined the reception. BGMEA former president Faruque Hassan, DCCI former president Asif Ibrahim, BPCCI Director and BGMEA member Salauddin Chowdhury, and BPCCI Director and BGMEA member Misha Chowdhury were also present.
The event celebrated the growing friendship between Bangladesh and the Philippines and held important discussions on enhancing bilateral trade and investment, the statement added.
The event also discussed the potential for future economic growth and innovation between the two countries, and the opening of new horizons for investment and cooperation.
