Exports grew by less than one percent in April from last year, posting the smallest earnings in the past 10 months.
Export earnings hit $3.01 billion last month, a 0.86% rise from $2.99 billion earned in the same period last year, according to figures released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Monday.
In March, $4.25 billion export earning was recorded.
Some insiders in the garment industry, the bellwether of Bangladesh exports, attributed the slowdown in April to the prolonged eight-day Eid-ul-Fitr vacation and gas supply disruptions.
However, over the 10-month period from July 2024-April 2025, exports grew by nearly 10% year-on-year to reach $40.20 billion.
