A Dhaka court has once again deferred the date for submitting the probe report in the Bangladesh Bank reserve heist case to 24 July.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain set the new date today as the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the investigating agency, failed to submit the report on the scheduled date.

Earlier, on 5 February 2016, hackers siphoned off $101 million from Bangladesh Bank’s accounts with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York through a SWIFT code. Of the amount, $81 million was transferred to four accounts with RCBC in Manila and another $20 million to a bank in Sri Lanka.

But the transfer of $20 million to Sri Lanka failed because of a spelling error by the hackers. Later, Bangladesh Bank was able to retrieve about $15 million from the Philippines.

Later, Bangladesh Bank Deputy Director (Accounts and Budgeting) Zobayer Bin Huda filed the case with Motijheel Police Station on 15 March 2016.
