Biman posts Tk 937cr record profit in FY24-25

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited; the national flag carrier of Bangladesh has earned an unaudited profit of Tk 937 crore in the fiscal year 2024-25. With this profit, Biman has set a unique record in its 55-year history.

Before the 2024-25 fiscal year, the second highest profit was achieved in the 2021-22 fiscal year, which amounted to Tk 4.4 billion.

In the outgoing fiscal year, the state-owned company earned Tk 11,631.37 crore. It is worth noting that in the fiscal year 2023-24, Biman became a company with a revenue of more than Tk 10,000 crore for the first time.

Biman has made a profit in 26 years in its 55-year journey. After converting from a corporation to a public limited company in 2007, Biman's accumulated total profit in the last 18 years has been Tk 589 crore.

In the 2024-25 fiscal year, Biman's operations carried 3.4 million passengers, transported 43,918 tons of cargo, and the cabin factor increased to 82%, which is a significant increase compared to the previous year. In addition, the highest ticket sales record in Biman's history was achieved in January 2025.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines General Manager (Public Relations) ABM Rawshan Kabir reveals these informations in a press release on Monday (August 18).

He expresses gratitude to passengers and customers for this financial success and said that their trust and support served as the biggest force in achieving this record profit.

Faster baggage handling, improved in-flight services, and modernization of airport processes have increased passenger satisfaction. In addition, Biman has consistently maintained a commendable safety record by strictly adhering to international safety standards.

Rowshan Kabir believes that this success has come as a result of efficient resource management, effective strategy adoption, and continuous improvement of passenger services.

He said another major strength of the company is its in-house fleet maintenance capability. Everything from line maintenance to major checks is done in-house, which is saving huge costs.

Raushan Kabir said that Biman's goal is to become a leading airline in South Asia by preserving national pride and ensuring world-class service, reliability, and passenger safety and security.

The state-owned company's future plans include expanding routes to new popular destinations, digital transformation in passenger services and operations, and strengthening cargo services.

Aviation experts have praised the airline's fleet modernization, profitable international route expansion, and improved customer service in recent years.

According to them, new management, efficient economic controls, effective resource allocation, and quick decision-making efforts under Bangladesh's interim government played a significant role in this year's record profits.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines currently has 21 aircraft in its fleet, of which 19 are state-owned. These include four state-of-the-art and fuel-efficient Boeing 787-8s and two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

Biman, which started its journey in 1972 with a revenue of just 1.90 crore taka, has gradually grown from the limited infrastructure and resources of war-torn Bangladesh into the modern and competitive airline it is today.
