The interim government has appointed new deputy commissioners (DCs) in Chattogram, Narsingdi and Naogaon as part of a wider reshuffle in local administrations ahead of the 13th national elections.
In a notice on Sunday, the Ministry of Public Administration said Naogaon DC Mohammad Abdul Awal has been transferred to Chattogram, with Monira Haque, a deputy secretary in the Secondary and Higher Education Division, replacing him.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Anwar Hossain, a deputy secretary in the Health Education and Family Welfare Division, has been named DC of Narsingdi.
In a separate order, Chattogram’s outgoing DC Farida Khanam was transferred to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, while Narsingdi DC Mohammad Rashed Hossain Chowdhury was reassigned as deputy secretary to the Local Government Division.
The government has recently carried out several rounds of DC transfers. On Sept 15, the administrators of Cox’s Bazar, Chapainawabganj and Madaripur were moved to new posts in ministries.
Earlier, on Aug 25, new DCs were appointed in six districts, including Patuakhali, Kushtia and Khulna.
