Tangail-5 (Sadar Upazila) is one of the constituencies in the Dhaka division closest to the capital. This constituency consists of one municipality and 12 unions. The previous fascist dictatorship, Sheikh Hasina's Awami League, held power for 15 and a half years. After Hasina's fall in the mass uprising of students and the public on August 5, 2024, the political landscape in this constituency has changed dramatically.
