The race for nominations has already begun around the 13th National Parliament election. Everyone is making every effort to secure nominations. Ahead of this election, there is a new surprise in the list of BNP nomination candidates. There is a possibility of a new surprise in Sylhet-3 constituency as well. In the meantime, Dr. Fayez Uddin MBE is going to gain the trust of the voters and also get the party's green signal.
Dr. Fayez Uddin MBE said, the long-standing neglect and stepmotherly behavior towards the Sylhet region has now taken a serious shape. This once vibrant region is now immersed in terrible suffering due to infrastructural distress, administrative complications and development stagnation. Especially the people of Sylhet-3 constituency are now facing serious crisis in all areas of civic amenities, communication, healthcare and security. This neglect, which started during the previous government, has now taken a severe shape. Public anger is increasing day by day due to the government's inefficiency and apathy. Frequent power outages, terrible condition of roads and ghats and waterlogging in the city have now become a part of the lives of the common people.
Dr. Faiz also said that the slow pace of work on the 6-lane highway from Sylhet to Dhaka is the biggest problem of the people of Sylhet. Currently, the road is in such a poor condition that it is not possible to reach Dhaka even in 15-16 hours. As a result, communication with the capital has been practically cut off.
Referring to the expatriates, he said, "Despite Sylhet being an expatriate-dominated area, people are facing various problems and deprivations due to lack of government attention. Although the foreign exchange sent by expatriates makes a huge contribution to the national economy, the people of Sylhet are deprived of its benefits."
Administrative complications at Sylhet Airport
Due to bureaucratic complications of the government, no new airlines are being allowed to operate flights at Osmani International Airport. This is causing immense suffering to expatriates and ordinary passengers, said Dr. Faiz.
Also, although a part of Sylhet-3 constituency is included in the City Corporation, the local people are deprived of basic civic amenities. The condition of birth registration, proper water supply, road repair and drainage system is very poor.
Terrible crisis in the health sector
Due to a shortage of doctors, lack of medicines, unhygienic environment and negligence, proper treatment is not available in government hospitals and medical centers. As a result, the common people are helpless.
Increase in crime among young people
Young people are getting involved in various crimes including theft, robbery, dacoity and drugs. Locals are expressing concern and saying that it is not possible to stop this trend without effective steps from the administration.
Stagnation in the education sector
Although the construction of two college buildings in the constituency has been completed, classes have not yet started. This is depriving students of higher education and increasing anger among parents.
Political violence and intimidation
Dr. Mohammad Faiz Uddin MBE has claimed that he has been fighting against political corruption for the past 16 years.
He said banners, posters and festoons are being torn down in his constituency, and his supporters are afraid to participate in the campaign.
Dr. Fayez Uddin believes that the administration will take swift action to suppress these crimes and prevent political violence.
He said, "To restore the fundamental rights of the people of Sylhet, equality must be brought into development activities and public interest must be given top priority."
According to informed circles, it is essential to take effective central steps to break the cycle of neglect towards Sylhet and ensure equitable development. Sylhet, rich in expatriate income, tourism potential and natural resources, now needs real government priority.
