The escalating conflict in the Middle East has severely disrupted flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong, leading to the cancellation of 19 international flights on Saturday and Sunday (April 4-5, 2026).

According to a press bulletin issued by Public Relations Officer Engr. Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, a staggering total of 264 international flights have been cancelled at the airport since February 28 due to regional instability.

The most recent cancellations include seven flights by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, four by US-Bangla, and eight combined by Air Arabia and Salam Air.

While 23 flights managed to operate over the weekend, routes to Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi remain particularly volatile, leaving thousands of expatriate workers stranded.

Authorities have warned that this uncertainty will persist until the geopolitical situation stabilizes, advising passengers to verify schedules before heading to the airport.
