The Jatiya Sangsad today passed the Barind Bahumukhi Development Authority Bill, 2018 in an amended form that was earlier recommended by the parliamentary standing committee.

Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury moved the bill in the House, which was passed
unanimously by voice votes with Deputy Speaker M Fazley Rabbi Mia in the chair.

The enactment of the proposed bill will help continuous development of surface and
underground water resource and its utilization, electrification of the irrigation machineries, farm
mechanization, crop diversification, tree plantation and conservation.

With the introduction of the Bill, the minister said the proposed act will take necessary steps for
institutionalize the Barind Bahumukhi Development Authority.

Earlier, the Jatiya Sangsad has sent the bill to the parliamentary standing committee on June 19 in
2018 for providing report.
