Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said Hatiya would be the role model of development as the government had taken initiatives to check erosion and repair infrastructures in the upazila area.

The minister said the government also took special measures to bring the
entire upazila under electrification as the upazila were being deprived of
various development activities in the tenure of BNP-Jamaat government.

“Hatiya’s first PC Girder Bridge is being constructed at an expenditure of
Taka 5.5 crore. It will be opened for transportation this June,” he said
while talking to journalists after inaugurating the ‘Nijhum Nibash’ of Hatiya
Roads and Highways Department

“The government will start work to stop erosion as a part of its swift
action plan….the work will begin next month,” he said while speaking at a
public meeting at Hatiya Dwip Government College at Hatiya, Noakhali.

Deputy Minister of Water Resources Ministry AKM Enamul Haque Shameem was
present at the meeting as the chief guest.
