Awami League lawmaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has been elected as the Speaker for the 11th Parliament for the third time.
She was elected on Wednesday (Jan 30) during the first session of the 11th National Parliament.
AL General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader proposed Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury as the speaker and his proposal was seconded by newly appointed Chief Whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury.
The Parliament was adjourned for 20 minutes during which Chaudhury was sworn in by President Abdul Hamid.
