Local Government Minister Md Tazul Islam today told the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) that the government has prepared a project for setting up a modern landfill on 118 acres of land in the Dhaka North City Corporation’s (DNCC’s) expanded area Nasirabad to dispose of the waste produced in the capital.

The project is now awaiting approval, he informed the House, replying a question made by treasury bench lawmaker M Abdul Latif.

The minister said a project involving Taka 724.49 crore is being implemented to expand the Matuail Sanitary Landfill for waste management of the Dhaka South City Corporation.

Besides, another project with an outlay of Taka 826.80 crore has been prepared for expansion and modernization of the Aminbazar Landfill for waste management of DNCC.
