A total of 683 people suffering from dengue fever were hospitalised across the country in 24 hours, the government said on Saturday.
The Directorate General of Health Services said 438 of them were admitted to 13 government hospitals while 205 were taken to 37 private hospitals and clinics. Apart from them, 40 dengue patients were hospitalised in various districts.
However, no death was reported during this period, the government claimed.
Dhaka University student Firoz Kabir died of dengue at a private hospital in the city on Friday night. On Saturday afternoon, Jahangirnagar University student Ukino Nushang, 19, died after suffering from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Cox’s Bazar.
Currently, 2,671 dengue patients are being treated in hospitals across the country.
From January 1 to Saturday, there have been 10,528 confirmed dengue cases. Eight of them died, according to the government.
