Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has decided to formulate a guideline for 5G (fifth generation wireless) network by January next year.
The decision came on Tuesday at a meeting of a committee formed last month to formulate a guideline for rolling out 5G, Senior Assistant Director of BTRC Zakir Hossain Khan said.
The telecom regulator formed the committee comprising representatives from ministry, regulator and operators last month in order to formulate policy, frequency, frequency prices, timeframe of implementation etc.
The 5G service will change the digital environment which will lead to deploying state-of-the-art technology.
The 4G (fourth generation wireless) service technology was launched in Bangladesh on February 29 this year. Earlier, on October, 2013, the country launched the 3G (third generation wireless) service.
The 5G technology is expected to be officially launched across the world by 2020.
