Seven people who suffered severe burns in a factory fire in Dakkhin Keraniganj on Wednesday succumbed to their injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early Thursday.

Shahjamal, officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Model Police Station, said the victims died between Wednesday night and early Thursday.

Bachchu Mia, inspector of DMCH police outpost, said five of the victims were identified as Imran, Babul, Raihan, Khaled and Salauddin. The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue.

“We heard that two other victims have died at the burn unit,” he said, without giving details.

A deadly fire, sparked by a gas cylinder explosion at a plastic factory in Hijaltola, killed a worker and injured 32 others. Firefighters later recovered the charred body of the dead worker from the factory.

The injured were taken to the burn unit of DMCH.
