A victim of the explosion at the chemistry lab of Naogaon Polytechnic Institute succumbed to his injuries at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early Sunday.
Towhidul Islam, son of Atab Ali of Manda upazila and a 3rd year student of Computer Technology department of the institute, died in the early hours after fighting for life for 21 days, said his father.
Seven third year students of the department, including Towhidul, suffered burn injuries after an explosion took place at the chemistry lab of the institute on December 1.

They were first taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital from where three of them later sent to the DMCH as their situation deteriorated.
