The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has decided to stop admitting regular patients in the hospital amid fear of coronavirus spread.
A notice issued on Thursday said that the decision was made considering the safety of the hospital staff, teachers and students.
"The decision will be effective from March 21," the notice signed by Registrar of the University Professor A B M Abdul Hannan reads.
"We will still admit emergency patients. We have only stopped the admission of regular patients who can be admitted at a later time," BSMMU Vice Chancellor Professor Kanak Kanti Barua said.
