12kg LPG cylinder price increases to Tk 993

The retail price of 12kg Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has been increased by Tk 102 to Tk 993 for August, 2021.

Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has re-fixed the price of LPG at retailer level on Thursday.

“The newly fixed price of LPG will be effective from August 1, 2021 and all licensed LPG marketing companies will implement the price,” Chairman of BERC Md Abdul Jalil said this at a press briefing on virtual platform.

According to the BERC details, the price of LPG $620 per ton was fixed for July 2021 by Saudi Contract Price (Saudi CP) as per Propane and Butane ratio 35:65.

The regulator cited a hike in LPG prices in the global market as the reason for local price soaring. The price of 12 kg LPG of the state-owned company will remain unchanged at Tk 591 as the cost has not changed at the production stage, Abdul Jalil said.

However, the price of LPG used in cars has been fixed at Tk 48.71 per litre. Earlier, it was TK 44 per litre.

On April 12, the BERC set the price of LPG for the first time in the country. It was decided that LPG prices will be revised every month adjusting the prices of propane and butane of Saudi Aramco.
