Chicken price drops, vegetable price remains unchanged


Vegetable market in this week remains unchanged while chicken price has dropped by Tk 10 per kg.

Visiting Taltola and Shewrapara kitchen markets in the capital on Friday, it was seen that broiler chicken was being sold at Tk 180 per kg.

According to the chicken traders, price has fallen in wholesale and retail markets both.

Chicken trader Rashid Miah said although price of broiler chicken has dropped by Tk 10 per kg, local chicken price decreased by Tk 20 per kg.

Decreasing the price, golden chicken is selling at Tk 300 per kg, golden hybrid at Tk 290,  local chicken at Tk 500 and layer at Tk 340 per kg.

Meanwhile, vegetables prices stand unchanged in the kitchen markets. Brinjal is selling at Tk 80 to Tk 120 per kg, yard-long bean at Tk 80, snake gourd at Tk 60, cucumber at Tk 50-Tk80, bottle gourd at Tk 50-Tk 60, four pieces of green banana at Tk 30, four pieces of lemons at Tk 10-Tk 20, green papaya at Tk 40 per kg, coriander leaves at Tk 400 per kg, potato at Tk 45 per kg, local onion  at Tk 90 per kg, Indian onion at Tk 70 kg and green chilli at Tk 120-Tk 160 per kg.

But, winter vegetable price has slightly decreased in the kitchen markets. Small cabbage is selling at Tk 40-Tk 50 per piece, small cauliflower at Tk 30-Tk 40, raddish at Tk 40 per kg, beans at Tk 160-Tk 180, tomato at Tk 1000-Tk 140, taro at Tk 80 and carrots at Tk 160.
