Value chain to be strengthened to ensure products’ reasonable price: State minister

State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu has said that the country’s value chain will be strengthened to maintain reasonable prices for different kinds of products.

“We want to strengthen the country’s value chain to ensure that consumers have access to products at reasonable prices,” the junior minister said while addressing a function held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium marking the World Consumer Rights Day.

The day is marked on 15 March of every year for creating awareness about the rights of all consumers against fraud, discrimination, and other such practices.

The state minister also said that the consumers would be benefited if the rational taxation is imposed on daily commodities.

He called upon the traders to prioritise consumers’ welfare and assured that the government would expand opportunities for those who maintain reasonable product pricing in the market.

“We are actively working to strengthen both the Directorate of Agricultural Marketing under the Ministry of Agriculture and the overall supply chain to regulate retail and wholesale prices of products,” he stated.
