BD to expand skilled workforce in Mexico job market: Mushfiqul Fazal
The Bangladesh Embassy in Mexico City organised a discussion event titled "Meet the Ambassador" on Sunday. Newly appointed Ambassador Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey engaged in discussions with the expatriate Bangladeshi community during the event.
Moderated by Abdullah Al Farhad, Head of Chancery at the embassy, the ambassador highlighted the significant role of remittances sent by expatriate Bangladeshis in strengthening the country's economy. He pledged to make the embassy a people-friendly mission during his tenure.
Mushfiqul Fazal emphasised the importance of people-to-people connections and urged Bangladeshi expatriates to abide by the host country's laws while adapting to the Mexican environment.
The ambassador reiterated that the Bangladeshi government maintains a zero-tolerance policy against human trafficking. Stressing the importance of safe and legal migration, he assured that the embassy would work to strengthen migration processes further.
He announced that the Bangladesh Embassy would actively facilitate employment opportunities for skilled Bangladeshi professionals—especially in IT, agriculture, engineering, and other professional sectors—in Mexico’s labor market.
The ambassador also set a target to boost Bangladesh's exports to Mexico to $1 billion. Alongside increasing exports of ready-made garments (RMG) and pharmaceuticals, he emphasized plans to expand exports of leather products, IT services, and agricultural goods, which currently lag behind.
Paying deep respect to the martyrs of the July uprising, he stated that their sacrifices would never be forgotten by the nation. Calling for unity, he reaffirmed his commitment to building an inclusive and discrimination-free Bangladesh.
Mushfiqul Fazal further stressed the importance of legal accountability for fascist regimes, saying:
"During the previous fascist government’s rule, Bangladesh was known for disappearances and killings. But now, it is time to leave that dark chapter behind and present Bangladesh as a disciplined, civilized, and prosperous nation to the world."
He also expressed pride in Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus taking charge of the interim government, stating:
"We are confident that he will ensure a free and fair election, fulfilling the people’s aspirations and restoring their ownership of the country."
Several members of the Bangladeshi community spoke at the event, extending their warm congratulations to the ambassador on his new role and pledging their support for the welfare of expatriate Bangladeshis.
The event concluded with guests being served traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.
