Pragati Life Insurance tops chart of top gainers


Pragati Life Insurance topped the chart of top gainers on Monday following the corporate declaration of issuing rights shares.

On the day, the company posted a price hike of 12.95 per cent or Tk 17.20 and closed at Tk 150.70 each on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

The board of directors of the Pragati Life Insurance has recommended two rights shares against one existing share at an offer price of Tk 15, including a premium of Tk 5 for each ten taka share.

The company has also decided to raise authorised capital from Tk 250 million to Tk 1.0 billion subject to the approval of the shareholders in the EGM, BSEC and other regulatory authorities.

On Monday, the Pragati Life Insurance was also in the chart of top 10 turnover leaders.

The company featured a turnover of Tk 77.60 million and grabbed 1.80 per cent of the market turnover.

On Monday, the insurance companies also dominated the top gainers chart on the premier bourse DSE.

The other insurance companies which were in the chart of top 10 gainers are: Dhaka Insurance, Prime Insurance Company, Global Insurance Company, Rupali Life Insurance Company, Peoples Insurance Company, Northern General Insurance Company and Karnaphuli Insurance Company.

The share prices of these companies rose ranging from 5.0 per cent to 9.87 per cent.

Runner Automobiles was the second highest gainer with a rise of 9.95 per cent or Tk 10.10 to close at Tk 111.60 each.

The company was also in the chart of top turnover leaders by featuring a value of Tk 109.40 million. It also grabbed 2.60 per cent of the market turnover.

SEML FBLSL Growth Fund was also in the chart of top 10 gainers with a rise of 9.92 per cent or Tk 1.20 to close at Tk 13.30 per unit.

On Monday, National Life Insurance Company topped the chart of top turnover leaders with a value of Tk 206.70 million and grabbed 4.90 per cent of the market turnover.
