Robi offers advance train ticket service

FT ONLINE

Robi has launched advance train ticket purchasing service recently through its digital payment solution, RobiCash.

As the Eid-ul-Fitr nears, this user-friendly solution promises a much needed respite for the train travellers during the upcoming holidays.

Robi subscribers need to first book for the train tickets by dialling *131# from their Robi mobile phones. Then through a user-friendly process the users will be requested to provide the journey date, preferred start station to start the journey, preferred destination station, the train, ticket class and the preferred ticket option combination.

At the end of the ticket booking process, the user will instantly receive an SMS with the booking code stating the amount to be paid for completing the process. Within 30 minutes of receiving the SMS, the user needs to make the payment at any of the more than 30,000 RobiCash Points available across the country.

Alternatively, the users may seek assistance from the RobiCash agents directly to help them with the entire train ticket purchasing process.

Following the payment the user will receive an e-Ticket number in SMS. This SMS needs to be shown at the railway station (e-Ticket counter) to collect the printed ticket. Users are advised to collect their paper-based ticket at least one hour before the train departure time. This e-Ticket service is available at 52 railway stations across the country.

A service charge of Tk 20 will be applicable for each ticket purchase. As per the conditions set by BR, the train tickets purchased is not transferrable to others. Besides, only four train ticket purchasing transactions are allowed against a mobile phone number in a month.

This mobile based train ticketing solution is available for seven days a week (Between 8:00am to 10:00pm every-day). Customers can purchase tickets up to 10 days in advance of their date of train journey.
