CoronavirusSummit provides thermal scanners to health ministry

FT ONLINE

Country’s leading conglomerate Summit Group has presented five thermal scanners to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFA) on Thursday to quickly and effectively identify body temperature of the passengers at international airports in Bangladesh, said a statement.

Due to the high passenger influx at international airports, it has become difficult for public health and airport officials to effectively check passengers' body temperature with handheld devices.

The thermal scanners would help properly identify passengers with fever, which is one of the major symptoms of coronavirus, aka COVID-19.

These scanners are expected to enable better coordination between airport and public health officials to manage quarantine.

Zahid Maleque, minister for Health and Family Welfare, received the thermal scanners from Summit Group's Vice-Chairman Mohammed Latif Khan.

In the programme, Group's Chairman Muhammed Aziz Khan said, “We, at Summit, are the most grateful for the opportunity to be of service by providing world class thermal scanners during this crisis."

Directors of Summit Group Azeeza Aziz Khan, Fadiah Khan and Salman Khan were present along with senior government officials were present on the occasion.
