Brac staff to work from home over coronavirus

The non-essential staff out of total 2,000 employees of Brac head office will work from home from next Sunday as a precaution for the prevention of the novel coronavirus.

Asif Saleh, executive director of Brac, made the disclosure in a press meet today at Brac Centre.

Brac will also work for raising awareness among the people over coronavirus, he added.

Mobile operators Grameenphone, Robi and Banglalink are also encouraging their staff to work from home in the wake of coronavirus.

So far an elderly person died due to coronavirus infection for the first time in Bangladesh. 10 people in Bangladesh have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, which believed to be started spreading from China. Three of them have been discharged from the hospital.

Around 43 people are in institutional quarantine, while 16 are isolated at different government hospitals, according to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).

About 198,004 people around the world have been infected with the deadly virus and 7,948 deaths were reportedly globally till date.
