Bangladesh confirmed 45 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours ending at 8am Tuesday. 

The total fatalities from the virus reached 4,028 and death rate stood at 1.34 percent.

In the last 24 hours, 2,545 people tested Covid-19 positive, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 299,628.

And the daily infection rate was 17.98 percent, although the overall rate in the country stood at 20.38 percent.

The total number of recovered patients stood at 186,756 including 3,881 new ones in the last 24 hours. And the recovery rate rose to 62.33 percent.

And 14,153 samples were tested in 91 labs across the country. So far 1,470,191 samples have been tested.

A press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday revealed the latest numbers.

Among the deceased, 32 were men and 13 women. And 25 of them were from Dhaka division, nine from Chattogram, four from Khulna, two each from Rajshahi, Barishal and Mymensingh and one from Rangpur.

Up to now, 3,169 men and 859 women have died from Covid-19 across the country. 

Of them, 1,945 were from Dhaka division, 889 from Chattogram, 326 from Khulna, 272 from Rajshahi, 184 from Sylhet, 168 from Rangpur, 157 from Barishal, and 87 from Mymensingh.

Bangladesh confirmed the first Covid-19 cases on March 8, and first death on March 18.

As of Tuesday, the deadly virus has killed 817,368 people globally and infected 23,830,363 so far.
