CoronavirusGlobal death toll tops 70,000

The global death toll from COVID-19 disease caused by the coronavirus jumped to 70,446 on Monday.

It has so far infected 1,286,294 people around the world, according to worldometer.

Of them, 943,946 are currently being treated with 46,005 being in serious or critical condition.

So far 271,882 people have recovered.

On Monday, Bangladesh reported its 12th coronavirus death and 35 new cases. The country has so far confirmed 123 cases.

Coronavirus, first reported in China in December last year, is affecting 200 countries and territories around the world and two international cruise ships.

The World Health Organization on March 11 declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic.
