ACC summons four officials of DIP


The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) summoned four officials of the Department of Immigration and Passport (DIP) on Monday over the allegations of acquiring illegal wealth and giving away Bangladeshi passport to an Indian citizen named Hafiz Ahmed after receiving bribe.

The letters signed by the Deputy Director of ACC Md Abu Bakkar Siddique asked them to appear before ACC on January 17 and January 19 for interrogation.

Director (Public relations) of ACC Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya confirmed sending of the letters to four officials of DIP.

The four DIP officials are: Director (Passport and Visa) Saifur Rahman, Director (Project) AKM Mazharul Islam, Deputy Director Tarique Salman and Halima Khatun Shampa.

Directors Saifur Rahman and AKM Mazharul Islam have been asked to be present on January 17 and Deputy Directors Tarique Salman and Halima Khatun Shampa have been asked to be present on January, 19.

The letters said, "It is necessary to record your statement on the allegations of amassing illegal wealth through different irregularities and issuing passport to an Indian citizen named Hafiz Ahmed after receiving bribe. We request you to be present at the ACC on the day specified".

The letters also said "The alleged persons are requested to be present with their National ID card, Passport and TIN certificate. In case of failure to show up on that day, ACC will consider that the alleged persons have nothing to say over the allegations"

ACC formed a three member team led by Deputy Director Md Abu Bakkar Siddique to investigate into the corruption allegations against four officials of DIP.
