NSU Board of Trustees Mahbubar Rahman dies at 91


Mahbubar Rahman, former joint secretary and board of trustee member of North South University, passed away at United Hospital yesterday.

He was 91. He left behind his wife, children, grandchildren and loved ones to celebrate his life.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Gulshan Society Mosque after Esha prayers today. Friends and family are requested to attend and pray for his departed soul.

Mr. Rahman was a very successful man. Born in 1931, he was one of the first Muslim graduates from Comilla Victoria College. He was an activist in the anti-British movements.

He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Dhaka in 1952. He also had a Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Studies from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.

He was a senior government officer in East Pakistan and later in Bangladesh. He was also a Board member of Janata Bank, Agrani Bank, Sadharan Bima Corporation, and Jiban Bima Corporation.

Mr. Rahman had a significant role in the founding of North South University. He was also the beloved father-in-law of NSU Board member, Dr. Junaid Kamal Ahmad.

'The finance today' team condoled the death of a renowned citizen and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

May Allah grant him Jannah and give his family the strength to endure this loss.
