Newly-elected DUCSU leaders to meet PM today

The newly-elected leaders of Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU) and hall unions will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today.

“The newly-elected DUCSU and hall union leaders will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official Ganabhaban residence here today afternoon,” Prime Minister’s Office sources said.

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) nominated Sammilita Shikkharthi Parishad panel swept the DUCSU polls bagging most all the posts of its 25-member executive committee except the vice-president (VP) and social services secretary positions.

In the March 11 DUCSU and hall union polls, the ruling party’s students’ wing BCL won full-panel in most of the halls and secured 23 posts in the central union.

This is the first time in the history of DUCSU polls that ruling party’s student wing bagged most of the posts in the polls.

Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad (BSCASP), popularly known as Quota reformists, backed-candidate Nurul Haque Nur was elected as DUCSU vice-president, while BCL panel nominated candidate Golam Rabbani won general secretary (GS) post.
