‘Asray’, ‘Mayer Dak’, ‘Sweeper Man’ win 28 awards in Indian film fests


Small screen director Mabrur Rashid Bannah’s three short films titled ‘Asray’, ‘Mayer Dak’ and ‘Sweeper Man’ has won 28 awards in various categories at the NexGn International Short Film Festival and the Paradox International Short film Festival held in India.

Bannah has confirmed the news to media on Sunday night.

He said, “‘Asroy’ has won 6 awards for Best Short Film, Best Actress, Best Child Artist, Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography in 5 categories at NexGn International short Film Festival. ‘Mayer Dak’ has won six awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Editor, Best Story and Best Screenplay. On the other hand, ‘Sweeper Man’ has won five awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Editor, Best Story and Best Cinematography.”

“‘Asroy’ also won three awards for Best Picture, Best Actress and Best Child Artist at the Paradox International Short Film Festival. ‘Mayer Dak’ has won four awards in three categories. ‘Sweeper Man’ won two awards for Best Picture and Best Director”, he added.

“The NexGn International Film Festival is one of the top 50 festivals in the world. I took part in these festivals on an experimental basis to see what happens next. I submitted only for appreciation, but luckily, I won 28 awards in two festivals,’ said Bannah.

“I was optimistic about my three short films, but I did not expect to get so many honours. It was totally unexpected. Thanks to the producers and artists involved in the work. It proves that if we try hard, it is possible to take our local works to the international level,” he added

NexGn is an inspirational international short film festival and invites participation from aspiring and upcoming independent filmmakers. It is a unique short film festival, focusing on opportunity creation for global filmmakers.

Meanwhile, Paradox is an independent film festival with live screenings and award ceremonies, that happens every year in Pune, India.

Two years have been passed since 2019 this festival has been taking place even during difficult times. Paradox festival helps independent movie producers to make and show their skills and to find and celebrate unprecedented movies and create free filmmaking.
