Filmmakers raise 24 demands to reform the industry


To reform the film industry, around 100 filmmakers and representatives of film-related institutions sat on a discussion for “Cholochitro Shongskar Roadmap ’24” (Film Reform Roadmap 2024) at Ground Zero in the capital on Friday evening.

They raised 24 draft demands, including the cancellation of all oppressive laws against freedom of speech and the formation of an independent and autonomous film commission.

The 24 demands include all existing oppressive laws against free speech should be repealed, an autonomous film commission should be established, an independent and autonomous Film Council should be established, establishment of a Film Finance Corporation, construction of Kabirpur Film City should be completed soon and Film Development Corporation (FDC) should be renovated and modernized, BCTI and other university film departments should ensure world-class film education system for the expansion of film education and the National Film Grant Policy needs to be reformed and others.

Many from outside Dhaka joined the discussion virtually. The 24 demands have been raised based on discussion with everyone. At a later time, corrections, changes, and refinements can be made through discussions and opinions.
