Media support sought to make HPV campaign successful


Speakers at a workshop here today said media can play positive role for increasing awareness among people about Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign.

They also have sought full-length support from the media to make the ongoing HPV vaccination campaign successful.

The workshop on “Orientation on HPV vaccination Campaign for the Media People/Journalists” was held at deputy commissioner’s (DC) conference room in the city.

Additional secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Md Nazrul Islam addressed as the chief guest with Khulna DC Md Saiful Islam in the chair.

The chief guest said, the HPV vaccine programme is a benevolent initiative of the government to protect the girls from cervical cancer in their future life.

The government has been providing the vaccine free of cost and the targeted people have been asked to register their names in www.vaxepi.gov.bd website to get the vaccine, he said.

Speakers urged the teachers, parents and media workers should come forward and work together to prevent the disease.

The 18-day long campaign was begun on October 24.
